Thread: relative rates

Two people start from the same point. One walks east at 1 mi/h and the other walks northeast at 2 mi/h. How fast is the distance between the people changing after 15 minutes?

Im getting 1.0823922003 miles but i dont think its right...

I agree with your result except I get 1.077 there may be a rounding difference.

I used s= .368 and I believe you used s = .367 but if we assume the data to be accurate to 2 sig figs we would both have 1.1
