    Absolute Maximum Problem

    Find the dimensions of the rectangle of greatest area. If one of its bases coincides with the x-axis and whose opposite vertices lie on the curve whose equation is y=8-2x^2

    Can someone help me with this problem please? I'm not really sure how the rectangle is positioned on the curve and I really need help as to how to approach this problem. Thanks in advance.

    did you make a sketch?

    A = 2x(8 - 2x^2)

    find \frac{dA}{dx} and maximize
