Find the absolute maximum and absolute minimum values of

*f*on the given interval. $\displaystyle f(x) = x^3 - 3x + 1 $

$\displaystyle [0,3]$

Absolute Extrema can occur

1. At end points

2. Critical points

Compute f(0), f(3) and the value of f(x) at all critical ponts on [0,3].

simply the largest is the abs max, the smallest is the abs min - Nov 18th 2009, 03:25 PMKrizalid
note also that in order to get the right answer we have that min and max are attained on that inverval.
