# Math Help - A bus company...

1. ## A bus company...

A bus company found that at the beginning of june , it was costing $480 to run a particular route each month but that that mothly cost was increasing at a rate of$36 per month. Also, at that point in time , there were 940 passengers taking the route each month but that number was also increasing at a rate of 8 passengers per month each month.Given this determine the rate at which the company's per passenger cost for the route was changing as of the beginning of june.Label your results.

2. I might be mistaken but I think this is just a matter of comparing the original cost and passenger amounts to the new cost and passenger amounts.
Original amounts being:
$460 and 980 New amounts being:$460 + $36 and 980 + 8 To compare the prices find the cost per passenger both times and take the orginal away from the new. 3. Original : 460/980=0.46 new: 496/988=0.50 hence, new-original=0.50-0.46=$0.04/passenger.

Is this what we are supposed to do?Does .04 become the rate of change?
