    Optimization

    the question reads:

    A metal storage tank with volume V is to be constructed in the shape of a right circular cylinder surmounted by a hemisphere. what dimensions will require the least amount of metal.

    The trouble I'm having is visuallizing the "right circular cylinder surmounted by a hemisphere"
    I mean, is a right circular cylinder the same as a normal cylinder? and what exactly is a hemisphere and how does that affect the problem?

    a hemisphere is half a sphere.
