# Thread: Integrals and Pyramids

1. ## Integrals and Pyramids

I'm not so sure if there's a post like this out here. If there is, I'm soo sorry. But I have this problem where I am given the height h=710, and the square base with side s=190.

I'm supposed to use integrals with this problem. I'm not sure how to start. I used (1/3)(190^2)(710), and I asked my teacher about my answer, and I was wrong. Help?

We kind of need THE PROBLEM to be of any help

3. Most of the problem is fluff:

You wake up one morning, and find yourself wearing a toga and a ring. You conclude that you have become a pharaoh and decided to build a pyramid. You decide it should have a height h=710 and a square base with side s=190. You must find the volume.

I'm not sure why you would use integrals when the geometric formula is known and easy to use, but it looks to me like your answer is correct

If you do integrate you'll just get that formula back in the general sense, but here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_(geometry) scroll down to the volume section

5. Thanks, I solved it I saw another thread on here that explained this pretty well. Thank you!

I'm sure all Egyptians will be pleased to hear that a pyramid (not mentioned in your initial post) is nothing more than fluff.

Edit: Oh, I see it now. Pyramid is mentioned in the post title but not in the question itself.
