Hi,
I haven't taken linear algebra in a long time and I forget a lot of this vector algebra from it, so if you could help me out with this problem:

Write the equation of the plane that contains the point P(1,0.5,0.5) and the tangent line to the curve g(t)=(t+1,t^2+1,t^3+1 at the point (0,2,0).

2. Can you work out the equation of the tangent line at that point? (Hint : find the tangent vector $v$; the equation of the tangent line is then $(0,2,0)+sv$ where $s$ is a parameter taking real values.)

Once you've got that, take any two distinct points on the line; the vectors going from those points to $(1,0.5,0.5)$ will span the plane you are looking for.
