    The quotient rule

    differentiate

    x / (sqrt(x+3))

    simplifying your answer as far as possible

    $\displaystyle \frac{d}{dx}\left(\frac{u}{v}\right) = \frac{vu' - uv'}{v^2}$

    $\displaystyle u = x$

    $\displaystyle v = \sqrt{x+3}$

    $\displaystyle u' = 1$

    $\displaystyle v' = \frac{1}{2\sqrt{x+3}}$

    ... do it.
