    If it's f(x) = e^x - 1, then f'(x)=e^x.

    If it's f(x)= e^{x-1}, then f'(x) = e^{x-1}

    y = e^x - 1

    \frac{dy}{dx} = e^x

    y = e^{x-1}

    \frac{dy}{dx} = e^{x-1}

    in general ...

    \frac{d}{dx} [e^u] = e^u \cdot \frac{du}{dx}

    where u is a function of x
