Thread: new calculator question

Hi
I've bought my first scientific calculator and I'm having a problem w/decimals. The main problem is that when I put in (for example) .04 x .04, the answer I get is 1 over 625! I've looked through the booklet that came w/the calc. No help at all. I know this probably has a simple and obvious answer, but, I just can't figure it out!!!

Oh yeah, the calc. is a Casio fx-3000ES.

Oh yeah, the calc. is a Casio fx-3000ES.

use the [MODE] key, press it 4 times and press 1 for the rationals -- which you have.
use the [MODE] key, press it 3 times for the decimal representation.

The book explains it. Check under "mode"

I did check out the mode key. I have the calc set in general calculations. Not sure what else needs to be changed. But, I'll look at it again. Thanks for the response!

Have you tried resetting the calculator?
Also, do you have scientific notation on?
