    Graphing a function

    Hello, I'm having some problems getting functions to graph.

    I am using a ti-83 plus. I am in function mode, and every other mode seems right as well. I go to y= and enter a basic polynomial function under y1 (such as y1 = 4x + 3). When I go to zoom, trace, or graph I get the error message "ERR:UNDEFINED".

    My window settings are:
    Xmin = 10
    Xmax = 11
    Xsc1 = 0
    Ymin = 10
    Ymax = 11
    Ysc1 = 0
    Xres = 1

    I've consulted the manual but can't seem to figure anything out that relates to this problem. This is the same calculator I used in a statistics course, so perhaps one of the off-sets I changed for that course is interfering, although based on what I can tell I don't think that is the case.

    This is also an urgent situation, so any help is very appreciated.

    Edit: I posted this on another forum and got no replies. Please don't hesitate to post if you think you may know how to solve this problem. I'm not adept at this calculator by any means, so it could just be a very obvious mistake. Thanks.

    Hi Chizum,

    Let me make a suggestion since I don't know how your settings have been changed. Let's reset the RAM in your calculator to the default settings and start over.

    Press 2nd +

    Choose Reset

    Choose All RAM

    Choose Reset

    Re-enter your function and see if that fixes things for you.

    Any way to save my programs though? It said it would delete them.

    Go back and change your window settings as I have indicated in RED in my previous post and see if that fixes things.

    Or, instead of pressing GRAPH, press ZOOM, then ZSTANDARD. This sets your window to a 10 by 10 grid.

    Nope, same problem.

    That also gives me the undefined error.

    I may try your initial suggestion and just rewrite my programs. Haven't got the time for that today though.

    Instead of resetting All RAM, try resetting to DEFAULTS. I believe that will not delete your programs.

    That did the trick, and my programs are still here.

    Thanks a bunch
