1. ## [SOLVED] TI-89 Titanium: SOLVE AN EQUATION

Ok so the equation is this: 3x^4-4x^3+8=0

When i solve for it, the calculator says this: False

Am i doing something wrong?

Can you tell me what i could do to get a number answer?(what should i press)

cZeros(3x^4-4x^3+8,x) (complex solutions because there is no real solution) instead of Zeros(3x^4-4x^3+8,x) (menu F2)

Also, my TI89 just gives {} when I press Zeros. If it yields false, check that you have no stored variable named x, or maybe because I have a titanium and I don't.

3. Thanks

You're not doing anything wrong. Just do what Moo suggested.

Use:

Code:
csolve(3x^4-4x^3+8=0,x)
You will get ugly complex numbers....

Also, when you say "number answer", do you mean exact number, or approximate number?

5. Enable Pretty Print (on TI89 Titanium) to make the ugly complex numbers more readable.
