Hi.

I have a ti-v200 calculator and a problem with it.

I want to solve a simple inequality like this:
x^2>1

I read the user manual. the command is written like this:
solve(x^2>1,x)

The response must be:
x<-1 or x>1

but it shows the exact inequality!!!!!!!!
x^2>1

Does anybody know what the problem is?

I couldn't tell you exactly, but when my TI-92 does that it means that the built in algorithms can't solve the problem. Are you certain that the V200 can solve quadratic inequalities?

Another thought: Have you tried this with the calculator in "Approximate" mode? Often my 92 can solve problems approximately where it can't solve it exactly.

I tested the approximate mode. but the problem still exists. I see this example in the user manual of v200. So it can solve quadratic inequalities for sure.

Just go to the Ti website and download the OS v3.10 for the V200. You should be all set.
