Math Help - Simple Business Equation

1. Simple Business Equation

Hello:

I have been trying to figure out an equation that should be simple. It is for my husband's business.

He and his partner have a 60/40 split agreement on all business. That means there is a 60/40 split on materials and labor as well as profit. I can't seem to get the equation correct for the numbers to add up.

For example:

A job is $3000 and the materials and labor add up to$1200.

His partner is responsible for 60% of the mat's and labor and my husband is responsible for 40%.

Then they split the remaining $1800 60/40 as well. Whenever I split the mat's and labor up, and then do the profit, I can't get the numbers to make sense. I need show his partners 60% in labor and materials, my husband's 40% in labor and materials, the profit split and have it all up to the total of the job. Please show me what I am doing wrong. When I am splitting up the materials and labor, the numbers seem to come out the same. My husband is supposed to pay 40% of the mat's and labor and his partner is supposed to pay 60%, yet the numbers seem to come out the same each time. I hope you can help me. Thank you.
