Charlene Hall receives a yearly salary of $24,310.00. She is paid bi-weekly and her regular workweek is 35.5 hours. (a) What is the gross pay per pay period? (b) What is the hourly rate of pay? (c) What is the gross pay for a pay period in which she works 9.5 hours overtime at time and one-half regular pay? Calculate the overtime pay as one calculation. (i.e. do not round the overtime rate to 2 decimals before multiplying by the number of hours.) ?????? Richard Burton is employed at an annual salary of$23,269.00, paid semi-monthly. The regular work week is 37.5 hours. (a) What is the gross pay per pay period? (b) What is the hourly rate of pay? (c) What is the gross pay for a pay period in which he works 9.5 hours overtime at time and one-half regular pay? Calculate the overtime pay as one calculation. (i.e. do not round the overtime rate to 2 decimals before multiplying by the number of hours.)

A)
B)
C)

[quote=heidipie;186839]Charlene Hall receives a yearly salary of $24,310.00. (i.e. do not round the overtime rate to 2 decimals before multiplying by the number of hours.) (a) since there are 52 weeks in a year, so, there are 26 bi-weeks in a year. gross pay per bi-week is $= \frac{ \ 24 310.00}{26}$ =$935

So, her pay per period = $935 (b) Hourly rate of pay = $\frac{\text{bi-weekly salary}}{\text{number of hours for two weeks}}$ $=\frac{\935}{2\times 35.5}$ =$13.17

(c) Overtime rate per hour $= \13.17 \times 1.5$

=$19.7535 per hour for overtime. Overtime pay= number of hours $\times$ overtime rate $= 9.5 \times 19.7535$ =$187.66

Total pay for pay period including overtime pay

=$935 +$187.66

= \$1122.66

Now you try the second question in the same way. Semi-monthly is same as bi-weekly.

Hiedipie, you are doing it again. You need to trust YOU, not some website. Don't even ask the website until you KNOW the answer.

Annually - 1 per year
Semi-Annually - 2 per year
Quarterly - 4 per year
Monthly - 12 per year
Semi-Monthly - 24 per year
Weekly - 52 per year
Bi-Weekly - 26 per year

Just pick the right one.

You check the website, not the other way around.
