Phi(Golden Ratio) and stock market price movements
I'm doing this project http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/History/2006/Projects/J1222.pdf and I have a few questions.
1) What should I be doing with these stock graphs? http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=MSFT I should be standardizing the values right? Well when I do, they come out to around 1.49 thru -1.49 and they dont match up with 1.618. Should I be using 0.618 instead?
2) The project says, "by averaging the yearly highs and lows for the ten chosen stocks, the stock prices were very close to 1.618". I tried averaging the high and low for a stock, but it was no where near 1.618. What should I do? I already tried standardizing the values of the high and low, and they all average to about 0.707.
3) What does it mean when it says "the overall percentage of stock prices graphically corresponded to PHI from averaging all 10 stocks was 52%?
I'm choosing my 10 NASDAQ stock from http://finance.yahoo.com/actives?e=o
Thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.
