    Demand and supply

    I am setting up this equation (D=-5p+40) ( S= -p^2 + 30p-8) as follows.
    -5p+40=-p^2 + 30p-8
I cannot solve it and I think I am doing it wrong. I need to find the equilibrium price

How are you trying to solve it?

Gather everything to one side. Combine like terms. You should see a good, old-fashioned quadratic equation.

You may wish to discard one of the solutions given by the quadratic formula.
