Thread: Study Guide for Actuarial Exams?

Hello,
I have a degree in Finance, however I want to attempt at the first actuarial exam. What resources are there for self study to write this exam? Is there a recognized study guide (i know there are free resources on the web, but I'd like to know if there is a study pack or something of the sort that I can purchase)?

There is more than one organisation in the world which offers actuarial qualifications. Which one are you talking about?


If you are taking the exams set by the UK actuarial profession, acted is a common choice for study materials: www.acted.co.uk

Obviously that wont help you if you are taking a different series of exams

To answer my own question, I found that the SOA has a list of distributors of text books and study manuals.

Odd. I think it was asumed taht you looked there already and found it unsatisfactory.

No matter how odd that may seem, I did check before, but I find the SOA not very easy to navigate and I couldn't find this before.

Fair enough. They had little WAY BACK when I was taking exams. It still doesn't cross my mind to check, i guess. The SOA would be horrified at my outdated attitude.
