Thread: problem involving amount of moeny other person put in to start new business

Paul and Paula put some of their own money into a new business in the ratio 3:4. If Paul put in $6000, how much did Paula put in?

3+ 4 = 7 4/7 x 6000 = $3,428 dollars Paula put in that how i worked it need to know is that correct

i also did 6000/ 4= 1500 is any of them correct

Paula put in $8000... $6000/3 is $2000 then times that by 4 to get the answer of $8000. Remember that the amount of the first quantity (3 in this case) is 3/4 of the amount of the second quantity (4).

Question not clear; 6000 not defined as high or low; so answer is 4500:6000 or 6000:8000.
