    Force of interest

    im in the middle of my financial calculus, and there is a topic which i just cant seem to fully understand; Force of interest, for both one and two variable financial laws. I know how to compute them, I understand the formulas. It is just that I dont have a clue what force of interest actually tells me! Anyone have any idea?
