# how to solve this exponential equation for b?

how to solve this exponential equation for b?
I'm having trouble solving this equation for b, it is my understanding that I am not allowed to use graphing calculators to help, and i cant figure out how to solve this by hand. I've tried a bunch of methods, including using log rules, but still cant crakc it. any help appreciated.

0.5(18500^b) + 0.5 = 10000^b

solve for b.

solve for b.

b=0 because anything to the power of 0 is 1.

so 18500^0=1
0.5*1=0.5
+0.5= 1

also 10000^0=1

You're missing some answers usmel. I've been trying to figure this out algebraically but there is definately more than 1 solution. 0 is a solution, but there are others as well.

yea, I used my calculator and 1.12667 is also an answer, but i really have no idea how to get there

I have a feeling that whoever gave you that problem "thinks" there is
only 1 solution: usmel's solution.
Iteration is required to find any others.
