    Help college alg

    (3x-4)-(5x-8)=-(x+12)-6+1

    i've worked it out mult. ways and i keep getting stuck.
    please if i can have some guidence one how to start it, to make sure i'm on the right track.

    my last answer left me at

    (-5x+ )(x+ ) ???

    any help please!!!

    Maybe the reason that you are getting stuck is because you don't have to factor at all.

    (3x-4)-(5x-8)=-(x+12)-6+1
    3x-4-5x+8=-x-12-6+1
    -2x+4=-x-17
    x=-21

    By the way, you should post these types of problems in the pre-algebra algebra sub-forum
