Let x represent the price of a car: If the sales tax is 6% of the price, express the total of the price of the car and the sales tax in terms of x.

My Work:

Let x = price of car
Let S = sales price = 0.06x
Let T = the sales price + price of car

T = 0.06x + x

the variable "S" would be the tax rate.

T = S + x = .06x + x = 1.06x
