Thread: Ah, just crack my minds...weird, finding quadratic equations

Hai, everyone..nice to meet u all and thanks 4 all those had put efforts to answer my question...okay, this one I find it accidentally and I'm quite curious about it, do anyone(s) can help me out?? Thanks...

1) Form a quadratic equation with roots which exceed by 2 the roots of the quadratic equation 3x^2 - (p - 4)x - (2p + 1) = 0.
Find the values of p for which the given equation has equal roots.

I'm just manage to find until half of the solutions and don't know how to find p??..Could someone help me...

since roots are equal therfor discriminant =0 hence
(p-4)^2+12(2p+1)=0
solve it and obtian the value of p
