Assuming that the real question is to find values of x such that y = 0 .... (in which case I'd just substitute y = 0 into the original equation and solve for x). But then again, perhaps the real question is to make y the subject ....?
Then again, who knows ....??
@OP: It would have helped if you posted the original and unabridged question rather than your interpretation of it. As it stands, your urgent question potentially remains unanswered (after nearly 12 hours) simply because we can only make guesses at what the real question might have been.
I just can't be encouraged by a response like this to "two solutions are rather apparent"
