    checking for correct steps

    It takes jack 5 hours to finish a yard and shelly 3 hours to finish the same yard, how much time would it take them together.

    jack = 1 and shelly is 1
    5 3

    15(x/5 +x/3)= 1(15)

    3x + 5x = 15

    8x = 15
    x= 1(9/8)

    have I done this correctly?

    Hi Brama Bull,

    Almost.

    8x=15

    x=\frac{15}{8}

    x=1 \frac{7}{8} hours together
