# Thread: Quick equation to check

1. ## Quick equation to check

New carpeting can be purchased and installed for $22.00 per square yard, plus a$50 delivery fee. (a) Write an equation that gives the cost, c, to carpet “s” square yards.

Wouldn't the equation for this be s = 22c + 50? I also need to find the inverse of this in order to calculate how many square yards are given for a certain price and the inverse of this equation: c - 50/22 = s is the only thing that makes sense.

Thanks

Hi bobbyboy1111,

Your initial equation should be c = 22s + 50.

This is what I calculated too, but the inverse turns out weird.

$\displaystyle s=\frac{c-50}{22}$
