# Thread: I need some questions checked please!

1. ## I need some questions checked please!

I am reasonably certain that these are correct, but I just want to make sure.

Find the slope and y-intercept of the following:

5x-2y=3
My answer: y=(5/2)x+(3/2)
------------
Indicate which of the following sets of lines are parallel,perpendicular, or neither.

y=2x-5
y=2x+5
My answers(respectively):slope=2,y-intercept=-5
slope=2,y-intercept=5
The lines are parallel.
********************
3x+y=5
-x+3y=6
My answers(respectively):y=-3x+5
y=(1/3)x+2
The lines are neither.
*********************
3x+y=5
x+y=3
My answers(respectively):y=-3x+5
y=-x+3
The lines are neither.

Thank you in advance for you help!

$5x-2y=3$

$-2y=3-5x$

$y=\frac{5x}{2}-\frac{3}{2}$

Correct!

gradients are $-3$ and $\frac{1}{3}$ so are perpendicular
