    Question about significant figures

    Strictly speaking

    if I want to correct a number, for example, say 1.9, to 1 significant figures, the result should be 2 or 2.0?

    is there any difference from positive number if I would like to correct any negative number to any number of significant figures?

    2 has one sig fig

    2.0 is two sig figs

    is there any difference from positive number if I would like to correct any negative number to any number of significant figures?

    no difference that I know of
