Thread: Simple algebra

I can't seem to figure this one out. It looks simple but I don't know how to start it. Any help will be appreciated.

If 3 times Jane's age, in years, is equal to 8 times Beth's age, in years, and the difference between their ages is 15 years, how old are Jane and Beth?

from this you can see that Jane is older than Beth, so .

Now you just need to solve these equations simultaneously for their ages. Do you know how to do this?
