    proportions

    Chelsea needs 16 ounces of milk for a recipe. she only has 1/4 cup measuring cup. How many times does she need to fill the 1/4 cup measuring cup to measure the 16 ounces of milk?
    1 cup = 8 fluid ounces

    1 cup = 8 fluid ounces
    1/4 cup means four ounces.
    so, everytime she fills the cup, she adds 2 ounces. so she has to do this 8 times since adding 2 eight times sums up to 16.
