I Need Help With These Two Problems
Hello, I'm trying to help my little sister with these two problems and I don't remember how to do them (Doh) She is in middle school. here are the problems and thanks for any help! (Rofl)

1) Approximately 11 000 m of Confederation Bridge is over water. There are 44 piers to support the bridge, creating 43 spaces between the piers. Write and solve an equation to determine the mean distance, to the nearest metre, between the centre of one pier of the next pier.

2) Lyle tallied the number of vehicles that crossed Confederation Bridge in 1 h. He found out that 3/4 of the vehicles were automobiles, and 1/5 were trucks. What fraction describes the number ofvehicles that were not automobiles or trucks?
( 788 automobiles, 19 recreational vehicles, 68 trucks, 21 motorcycles, and 23 buses)

An equation for the first one would just be $\frac{11000}{43}=x$ with $x$ being the mean distance.

For the second one $\frac{3}{4}=\frac{15}{20}$ and $\frac{1}{5}=\frac{4}{20}$ so $\frac{3}{4}+\frac{1}{5}=\frac{19}{20}$ which means that the remaining $\frac{1}{20}$ were other vehicles
