    Algebra I dont understand.

    Hey there, just studying for my exam with a few questions and am stumped as to how the left hand side changes the way that it does:

    from this...

    2vdv/(v + 1) = dx

    To this... don't know how this happens...

    2dv - 2dv/(v+1) = dx

    I don't know if im missing something really obvious or what. If you see how please let me know thanks.

    Since 2v = 2v+2-2=2(v+1)-2, we have
    <br />
\mathrm{d}x=\frac{2v\,\mathrm{d}v}{v+1}=\frac{\lef  t[2(v+1)-2\right]\mathrm{d}v}{v+1}=\frac{2(v+1)\mathrm{d}v}{v+1}-\frac{2\mathrm{d}v}{v+1}=2\,\mathrm{d}v-\frac{2\,\mathrm{d}v}{v+1}.
