# Math Help - Algebra (sort Of)

1. ## Algebra (sort Of)

Hi Everyone
This is for my physics assignment but it is maths
I have a formula n1sin1Ө=n2sin2Ө
Where:
n1 = 1
n2 =?
sin1Ө = 44
sin2Ө = 48

An my answer should be or close to 1.48. I can't get it.
Help would be good.
Thanks.

2. Remember that the image of the function $sin(x)$ is always between $[-1,1]$ so $sin (1\theta)$ and $sin (2\theta)$ can't be 44 and 48 !.

That doesn't make sense

4. The range of the sine function is [-1, 1]; meaning, when you take the sine of any angle it's going to be a number between -1 and 1, so to say that
$\sin 1\theta = 44$ and $\sin 2\theta = 48$ is impossible. Can you double-check the assignment and see how exactly the problem is worded?

5. Oh, maybe I've just made a mistake with the image word, in spanish range and image (rango e imagen) are equivalent, so maybe I just didn't make my point clearly. In that case, my apologies.

6. Maybe my results are wrong, but even then I should get close to it because my results were quite good.
