    from pounds per foot to kgs

    Hello all.

    I am stuck with this one, please can you help me convert 1,000 metres of material that weighs 9.3 pounds per foot in to kilos please?

    Hi travellingscotsman.

    \mathrm{\frac{9.3\ lb}{1\ ft}\ =\ \frac{9.3\times0.454\ kg}{0.3048\ m}\ =\ 13.853\ kg\,m^{-1}}

    Now multiply this by the length of your material in metres to get its mass in kilos.
