    Matrices

    The matrice T=[a b] maps [1,3] onto [-1,3].
    ....................[c d]

    1) determine the values of a b c and d.(explain)

    2) the point [1,3] lies on a line V. Given that [-4.2] also lies on V, determine the equation of V' ,the image of V, under the transformation T.

    1) TX = X' therefore a + 3b = -1 and c + 3d = 3. So there's not enough information to get numerical values of a, b, c and d.
