Thread: nonlinear system of equations

don't know how to proceed with the following problems. this whole section is giving me fits. Thanks in advance!

1st system
x^2 - y^2 =5
x^2 + 4y^2 = 25

2nd system
x^2 - y^2 = 20
x^2 - 9y = 0

3rd system
x^2 + y^2 = 10
x^2 + y^2 - 4y + 2 = 0

From (1): x^2 = 5 + y^2. Substitute into (2) and solve for y^2 and hence y. Use your values of y to solve for x.
