3) 1.45x10^3

not sure about number 2from what you wrote as the question,

My calculator gives $y = 23465.78225806451...$

Correct to 2 d.p. this is $23465.78$
To 3 s.f. this is $23500$
In scientific notation, to 3 s.f., it is $2.35 \times 10^4$
