This is not an equation the "x" means times here. Note the question is in basic math section, so it does not yet involve algebra.

First do the parantheses,

$\displaystyle 3^4-5\times (10)$

Now do exponents,

$\displaystyle 81-5\times 10$

Now do multiplication,

$\displaystyle 81-50$

Now you can substract,

$\displaystyle 41$
