to eork out do you just
1) x^3 = 1
x = 2sqr root 1??

$

$(x-1)(x^2 + x + 1) = 0$

$x = 1$ , $x = \frac{-1 \pm i\sqrt{3}}{2}$

$x^3 + 1 = 0$

$(x+1)(x^2 - x + 1) = 0$

$x = -1$ , $x = \frac{1 \pm i\sqrt{3}}{2}$

Since you ask this question, it is clear that you only require real solutions to your equations. So don't worry about the solutions with i in them - they are not real.
