    \frac{8^{-1}}{y} + 3^{-1} = -3

    \frac{1}{8y} + \frac{1}{3} = -3

    I'm going to clear the fractions: The least common multiple of 8y and 3 is 24y.

    24y \left ( \frac{1}{8y} + \frac{1}{3} \right ) = 24y \cdot (-3)

    3 + 8y = -72y

    3 + 8y - 8y = -72y - 8y

    3 = -80y

    y = - \frac{3}{80}
