In January 2006, US first class mail rates increased to 39 cents for the first ounce plus 24 cents for each additional ounce. If Sabrina spent $15.00 on a total of 45 stamps of these two denominations , how many of each denomination did she buy?

I also have this exact problem in my Pre-Algebra class.
I need to use only one variable, so I assigned it as X.
0.39x I put as the amount of 39 cents stamps
0.24(15-x) as the amount of 24 cent stamps
15(45) is the total.
0.39x + 0.24 (15-x) = 15 (45)
Would that be how it would be set up? I've got incorrect answers doing it that way.
