the product of twon numbers is less than 340. one of the numbers is 3 less than the other. what are the possible values of the larger number?

this is my interpretation
1=> x
2=> x-3
P=> x(x-3)< 340

x(-3)<340
x^2-3x<340
x^2-3x-340<0

there are no factors. so I need to use the quadratic formula??

Your working is correct and I'd use the quadratic formula to solve for x.
