# Math Help - sorry but i need quick help alagebra and equations

1. ## sorry but i need quick help alagebra and equations

you fill an empty hot tub that is 54 inches tall. you started putting water in at 11 am and check to find 2 inches of water in the tub. you check again at 1 pm to find 5 inches total of water.
assume the water will fill at the same rate.
1. how many inches of water will be in the hot tub at 5 pm?

EDIT:you have 100 tickets, you are selling them at a rate of 10 per week. each is 50 cents.
1. write an equation to detemine the total value of the reamining ticketss after w weeks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

solve for x:

3(x+2)=5

6=-2(8x-4)

-2(-4x+7)=18

sorry but my teacher is a meanie who wont help me.

Hi enyaz11,

I'm sorry, but where did the 2 inches of water come from? If you started filling at 11 am, at what time did you check to find the 2 inches of water? At 1 pm (2 hrs later), you measured 5 inches in the tub. So, you are either putting 3 inches or 5 inches of water in every 2 hrs. You have a span of 6 hours from 11 am to 5 pm, so go figure.

$v = .50(100-10w)$

6 = -16x + 8
-2 = -16x
1\8 = x

x = 1/8

-2(-4x+7)=18

8x - 14 = 18
8x = 32
x = 4
