    Question Where can I find a program/site to solve this equation?

    Hi, I'm in highschool and taking Algebra 1...I would like to check my answers however I've been unable to find any websites or programs that can solve the following algebraic equation for me :

    X = {1/4,1/2,1,2,3}

    x+1/2=5/2

    I need to plig in each of the numbers in the {}s and find which one(s) make the equation true....anyone know of a site or program that can solve this kind of equation so I can check my work? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Lightbulb Google calculator

    If you rewrite the equation . . . Google (everyone's favorite search engine) can help you solve this type of algebraic equation.

    Rewrite it like this:

     x+1/2=5/2
     x=5/2-1/2

    now rather than plugging in each value for x just solve for it like this:

    thanks for your reply , however I'm afraid that's not what is needed (although neat)...see I need to be returned either true or false for each value in the {}s that is plugged into the equation (replacing x)...so basically if the replacement of x makes the whole equation work out correctly true is returned, otherwise false is returned...this has to be done for each value in the {}s....any ideas of a program or site that can do this?

    If you had solved X+1/2 = 5/2 you would have gotten X=2.

    This means that only when X=2 is the equation X+1/2 = 5/2 TRUE.

    After that whatever value you gave X,you will always get FALSE.

    Simple Linear Equation.

    You really neednt have searched for something to do that for you when you should ideally be able to do it on your own.
