    The distiributive property

    I have a test tommorow and Im in grade 8 algebra 1
    Could somebody walk me through these 2 questions so i know if im doing it right or not?
    2(1-d) - (2d+1)

    5(2-j) + (2j-3)

    2(1-d) - (2d+1)

    Since the 2 is outside the brackets, we remove the brackets and multiply BOTH variables with 2.

    That gives you 2 -2d

    Now,the negative sign is outside the brackets for the 2nd eqn.So we multiply both variables with the -ve sign.

    That gives you -2d -1

    Combining both you get 2-2d -2d -2

    That leaves you with -4d.

    Can you try for the next problem?
