I have a test tommorow and Im in grade 8 algebra 1
Could somebody walk me through these 2 questions so i know if im doing it right or not?
2(1-d) - (2d+1)
5(2-j) + (2j-3)
Cheers,
Sam
2(1-d) - (2d+1)
Since the 2 is outside the brackets, we remove the brackets and multiply BOTH variables with 2.
That gives you 2 -2d
Now,the negative sign is outside the brackets for the 2nd eqn.So we multiply both variables with the -ve sign.
That gives you -2d -1
Combining both you get 2-2d -2d -2
That leaves you with -4d.
Can you try for the next problem?
