    Factorisation

    I keep on arriving at different solutions to the answer sheet - could someone please help me?

    Factorise the following:
    2(x - 1)² - 9(x - 1) - 5

    Substitute (x-1)=y

    Your term becomes:

    2y^2-9y-5 = (2y+1)(y-5)

    Now re-substitute to get the final result.
