I understand that A = 22/7

I don't know how to work out the rest. For example is B worked out like this.

3 + 1 = 4/1

7+ 1/15 = 106/15

So I then have 4/1 and 106/15 - what do I do next or have I gone wrong already ?

Can anyone help me please?

Hi

$\displaystyle B = 3 + \frac{1}{7+\frac{1}{15}}$

$\displaystyle B = 3 + \frac{1}{\frac{7 \cdot 15+1}{15}}$

$\displaystyle B = 3 + \frac{1}{\frac{106}{15}}$

$\displaystyle B = 3 + \frac{15}{106}$

$\displaystyle B = \frac{3\cdot 106+15}{106}$

$\displaystyle B = \frac{333}{106}$

$\displaystyle

3 + \frac {1}{7} = \frac {21}{7} + \frac{1}{7} = \frac {22}{7}

$

$\displaystyle 3 + \frac {1}{7+ \frac {1}{15}} = 3 + \frac {1}{\frac {106}{15}} = 3 + \frac {15}{106} = \frac {318}{106} + \frac {15}{306} = \frac {333}{106}

$

another example..

$\displaystyle

\frac{\frac{4}{3}}{\frac{5}{2}} = \frac {4 \times 2} {5 \times 3}

$

do you undestand now?
