    Ixo , you have done a bit of carelessness here,

    \frac{\$25}{8} + (\frac{\$25}{4}\cdot \frac{2}{2}) +(\$25\cdot \frac{8}{8} )= total amount

    \frac{25}{8} + \frac{50}{8} +\frac{200}{8} = total amount

    \frac{275}{8} = total amount

    \$34.375 = total amount

    Which doesn't make sense because movies didn't cost that much back when they were using 1/10 th of a cent
    Lets say Cindy has x$ in the beginning

    Now the equation that we can form with this is

     <br />
x = \frac{x}{4}+\frac{x}{8} + 25<br /> <br />

    Hence

     <br />
x= \frac{2x+x}{8} + 25<br />

     <br /> <br />
x - \frac{3x}{8} = 25<br /> <br />

    \frac{5x}{8} = 25

    Hence

    x= \frac{200}{5} = 40

    Thus starting amount is 40$

    Please show the work to your daughter and ask if she still has troubles
    Best of Luck
