This is basically the same sort of problem as #2; the only difference is you have to work in percentages. Suppose the amount invested in A shares is $$\displaystyle x. Then the yearly return on this amount at 8% is$$\displaystyle \frac{8x}{100}$. Now work out, in terms of$\displaystyle x$, how much is invested of type B and type C, using the same method as problem #2. Then work out the return for each, using the same method as I have shown you above: multiply the amount invested by the percentage rate of return, and divide by 100. Finally, add all three amounts together, and put the total equal to 4850. Then solve the equation for$\displaystyle x\$.
